Yesterday, the Tracy Wrestling Club wrestled its first dual meet against the Nor-Cal Inferno Wrestling Club at Saint Mary’s High School in Stockton, California. I would consider Nor-Cal Inferno a top notch youth wrestling program and yesterday they also proved to be an outstanding opponent for our club’s first dual meet this season.
As I watched each team’s wrestlers step out on the mat to compete, I saw so much heart, dedication, determination, and sportsmanship take place. Match after match, the wrestlers from both clubs put everything on the line and never gave up. There were several intense matches where the points were being scored back and forth. The spectators were on the edge of their seats as they cheered on both teams. You could hear the cheers as a wrestler got a takedown only for the cheers to turn to gasps as the opponent got a reversal. As the match continued, so did the rollercoaster of emotion from the first whistle blow in the first period to the last whistle blow in the third period.
At the end of the dual, the Tracy Wrestling Club won some of the matches and Nor-Cal Inferno won some of the matches but regardless of wins or losses, both clubs left with a great experience and respect for each other.
Thank you to Nor-Cal Inferno for the competition and Saint Mary’s High School for hosting the dual!
